  How to Dance Reggaeton

Reggaeton is a very popular, upbeat dance commonly seen in dance clubs around the world. Reggaeton originated with Latin American youth and became increasing popular during the 1990s. Below are steps on how to dance reggaeton correctly.

  1. Stretch your arm and leg muscles for about ten minutes before beginning to dance the reggaeton dance. Reggaeton is a dance that uses many muscles. Therefore, it is very important that you stretch properly before starting the dance.

  2. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Bend your knees slightly. Swing your hips side by side while moving in a circular motion. You can move your arms in various ways, but you should limit the movement of your upper body.

  3. Change positions frequently and make the same steps as you switch directions. Be sure you keep your movements to the beat of the music.

  4. Vary your dance moves by moving your arms in various directions. Remember to keep your hips swinging side by side without moving the upper part of your body much. This dance resembles the salsa and the merengue dances but differs in that it also utilizes various urban dance moves.

  5. Be confident in your moves. There are no set rules for reggaeton dancing. It is a freestyle dance done according to the beat of the music. The reggaeton dancer expresses themselves through their moves.
