Do the Muscle in Reggaeton Dance

Reggaeton is both a type of music and a unique dance style which is characterized by lyrics as sensual as its gyrating dance moves. First made popular among young Latinos in the early 1990s, reggaeton is a mix of genres, from modern hip hop to classic merengue. Reggaeton is becoming very popular in the United States, and the muscle is just one of many moves you can learn today.
  1. Keep your movements as fluid and smooth as possible throughout the muscle and other reggaeton moves, as this style of dance is characterized by the elasticity of the dancer's body. Practice the dance techniques one step at a time until you have perfected the movement, then begin to work on dancing to the beat of the music.
  2. Step your left foot out to the side so that your feet are a bit further than shoulder width apart, keeping your knees bent slightly throughout the movement. As you are stepping out, lift your right arm out to the side and up overhead, lowering it while crossing over your body as your foot lands on the ground.
  3. Pick up your right foot on the second beat, stepping in place. In the same beat, bend your left arm at a 90 degree angle, lift and draw your elbow down to your side, as if you are performing an elbow strike in martial arts.
  4. Repeat the movement on the right side beginning on the third beat. Step your right foot out as you make one large circle with your left arm, crossing over your body. Continue the muscle, alternating sides to the beat of reggaeton.
