Modern Jive: Ballroom Drop
After giving the signal, both walk forwards to have feet in a line facing opposite directions while the lady takes the man's L hand, and both hands grip in a butterfly grip (both grasp around the other's thumbs) (2 beats). The man walks forward and clockwise to plant his feet just more than shoulder-width apart, from which they do not move, while pulling R towards his R (2 beats). The lady now turns in counter-clockwise to place both feet inside the man's feet at his center line, while the man brings both wrists in front of his face (2 beats). The lady uses her R foot for support, while the man lowers both wrists straight down, close to his torso with a straight back, while not looking down at the lady. She extends her L leg, extends her arms and lastly tilts her head back. The lady does not touch the floor, and should feel her R thigh working to support her (2 beats). The man pulls upward with both hands to initiate the rise, which cues the lady to bring her L foot back beside her R foot and to lift herself with her legs - the man is not responsible for the whole lift (2 beats). To exit, the man drives the lady in a counter-clockwise two-hand overhead turn, and normally drops one hand at the top before stepping back (4 beats).
