Modern Jive: Wurlitzer
(5 counts ; 10 musical beats)
The Wurlitzer move starts off man's left hand to ladies right hand. This is another Modern Jive dance moves. It is a beginner move in modern jive swing dancing.
1: (Step back)
The man leads the lady to move backwards — by pushing her right hand slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards and offers his right hand for the lady to take his right hand in her left hand.
2: (Step in)
The man leads the lady to move forwards — by pulling her right hand slightly with his left hand changing to a flat palm-to-palm handhold at shoulder height and pulling her left hand slightly with his right hand — as he moves forwards.
The man leads the lady to move backwards and rotate 90o clockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by releasing her right hand after pushing it slightly with his left hand — as he moves backwards and rotates 90o anticlockwise (with weight on his right leg), to an in-line position.
At this point there is an option for both partners to mirror outside arm shapes / positions, e.g. both can do “L”-shapes, etc.
The man leads the lady to spin 450o anticlockwise (with weight on her left leg) — by bringing his right hand (and the lady's left hand) backwards and releasing the lady's left hand from his right hand (almost like a Frisbee) — as he rotates 90o clockwise (with weight on his right leg).
5: (Catch, and step back)
The man typically catches the lady's hands in a double handhold, or catches the lady's right hand in either his left or right hand. The man leads the lady to finish the spin (placing weight onto her right foot as a brake and then stepping back on her left leg) — by pushing her hand(s) slightly with his hand(s) — as he finishes the spin (placing weight onto his left foot as a brake and then stepping back on his right leg).
